.chapter three.

Taylor pulled open the front door. "Oh, hey Kylie. You look really nice."

Kylie stepped past Taylor and into the foyer. "Thanks. But Taylor... " she gave him the once over, "those pants SO don't go with that shirt. I highly suggest you go change."

Taylor looked down. "I look fine. Besides, I'm on my way to pick up the baby-sitter. You wanna ride along? Its not too far."

"No, I think I'm just gonna head upstairs and try to find you something else to wear. Who did your mom get to baby-sit?"

"Casey Latham. You remember her?"

Kylie racked her brain, trying to remember. "Oh yeah, wasn't she the one who pushed you into that huge mud puddle that one summer?"

Taylor rolled his eyes. "That'd be her. Glad you remembered. I'll be back."

Kylie laughed as she watched him get in the car and drive off down the street. She walked up to his room, finding it in its usual mess. "Damn pig." she mumbled, walking over to his closet. She began to leaf through a few shirts, before settling on a dark blue one. "This'll go good with his khaki's." She had to do some digging, but soon found his khaki's. She layed the clothes on his bed and walked back downstairs to say hi to his parents and relatives.

"Kylie! My, don't you look lovely this evening." Diana greeted her as she entered the living room.

"Thank you."

"Kylie, this is the boys' Aunt Marianne, Uncle Bill, and their little two - year old cousin Jake." Walker introduced. "Everyone, this is Kylie, our neighbor... who lives here." he looked over at Kylie and smiled. "Sometimes." he added

Kylie heard the front door slam and assumed that Taylor must be back with Casey. As if to prove it, Taylor yelled from the foyer, "Mom, I'm back!"

Kylie walked into the foyer. "Hey Tay, I found you a new outfit. I layed it on your bed upstairs."

"Kylie its a good thing you found him a new outfit, otherwise I would've had to do it myself! There's no way I'd let cute little Tay go out in public dressed like that!" Casey exclaimed, placing her hand on his shoulder.

Kylie stared at her. Cute little Tay? Since when is she calling him that? She shook her head, trying to forget Casey had ever said that. "Yeah, well... " Kylie stared pointedly at Casey's hand, which still sat on Taylor's shoulder. "... so anyway, Taylor, you should probably go get changed. I mean, since Casey's here now, I'm sure we'll be leaving soon."

Taylor looked from Kylie to Casey. "Yeah, you're probably right. I'll ahh... " he locked his eyes on Casey. "I'll go do that." He hesitated for a moment before finally going up the stairs to change.

"Ow!" Kylie yelled "Taylor, why'd you kick me?" She bent over and rubbed her leg, which Taylor's foot had just connected with seconds earlier.

"Lets go to the bathroom." he nodded his head in the direction of the restrooms.

Kylie gave him a confused look. "The bathroom? Why would I want to go to the bathroom with you? Haven't you learned yet that we can't go in the same one?"

Taylor smiled sarcastically. "Yes, but I just thought you looked like you had to go to the bathroom. So... lets go to the bathroom."

Kylie looked at Isaac and Zac for help. They both shook their heads and focused their attention back to the conversation that was going on between the adults. "Look, Taylor, if you want to talk to me over there, then just say so. Otherwise, don't ask me to go to the bathroom with you when I don't even have to go!"

"Fine. Can we talk over there please?"

"No."

"What? But you just said that - "

"I know what I just said, Taylor, I'm not stupid."

"See, that's just it."

"What's just it?"

"You're acting all... all... all SOMETHING." Taylor shook his head and layed it down in his hands on the table.

"All stupid?" she asked, raising her eyebrows

Taylor glanced up. "You're acting different."

"Why? I have no reason to be."

"Like hell you don't!" he said in a loud whisper, "All I want to do is talk to you, but not here!"

Kylie turned towards the other table. "Maybe later."

"Goodnight Walker and Diana. Thank you for dinner." Kylie turned and looked at the the guys' aunt and uncle getting out of the Hanson's van. "It was very nice to meet you two." she smiled politely.

"You too." they replied

"Mom, Dad, I'm gonna walk her home, I'll be back." Taylor called to his parents.

As soon as Taylor and Kylie reached her front porch, Taylor sopke up. "Okay, so spill it."

"Spill what?"

"Why you've been acting differently tonight!"

Kylie debated whether or not she should tell him, but she knew that she'd end up saying something eventually, so why not now? "I just... you like Casey, don't you?"

"What?!"

"Well do you?"

"What kind of a question is that?"

"Just answer it!"

"No! God, are - are you jealous or something?"

Kylie stopped trying to unlock her front door and turned to face him. "Jealous? Is that what you think I am, is jealous?"

"Well what else would you be? If you were just plain 'ole cerious you sure as hell wouldn't be acting like this!"

"And why not?"

"Because I've seen how you act when you're jealous, and that's exactly how you're acting right now."

"When was I jealous?"

"A couple years ago with Cameron Anderson, you remember?"

"Oh please Taylor, Cameron Anderson? I was NOT jealous. I hated him to begin with, so I really didn't care if he decided to go out with that stuck - up bitch."

"Yeah well that one 'stuck - up bitch' is Casey Latham."

"Oh well excuse me Taylor." Kylie turned back around and unlocked her front door. "Goodnight." she said, bitterly.

"No, Ky, come on." Taylor grabbed her arm. "Please... I'm sorry."

"Would you just let go of my arm?"

"I'm sorry, okay?"

"Okay, fine, now let go of me."

"Would you just... would you come out here please? It'll only be a second, I promise."

Kylie sighed and walked back out onto the porch, standing in front of Taylor. "What?"

He leaned forward and pressed his soft, heart shaped lips to hers. Kylie placed her hands on his chest and began to respond, moving her lips against his. Taylor broke the kiss, but left his lips just barely touching hers. "Tell me you're not jealous and that this whole thing tonight can be put behind us." he breathed, his tongue giving a quick lick to her bottom lip.

"Its over. Its in the past, gone, whatever you wanna say."

"And you're not jealous... "

"And I'm not jealous." she confirmed

"Good." he smiled against her lips before pressing his to them once more. "Night, babe." he said when he pulled away. "I'll call you tomorrow."
